We are not a commercial fundraising company, nor do we have any associations of any kind with any fundraising companies. Therefore, 100% of the money from our vehicle donations goes to Center for Living and Learning, which is an IRS approved 501 (c) 3 charity. The percentages spent on charitable programs are documented in our IRS form 990 which is publicly available. We are one of the very rare true charities doing our own fundraising and not using a commercial fundraising company. |
| We use funds from donated vehicles for several our charitable programs but principally for our primary "Transitions to Work" program. We provide year and a half long apprenticing and mentoring for individuals with barriers to employment. Our "Transition to Work" program provides supplemental education and training. The employment skills training includes customer service, clerical, data entry and general office skills. Computer training is an integral part of our apprenticeship program. Computer courses include Microsoft Windows XP, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage and HTML coding. Our apprentices are very effectively transitioned into the competitive work force on a self-supporting basis. |

The population served includes:
|
| We accept individuals completing residential and outpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. We accept youths who do not have a high school diploma and come from a variety of situations such as emancipating out of the foster care system, from homes below the poverty level and/or high crime neighborhoods and youths seeking to get out of, or stay out of gangs. We work with individuals who have little or no job skills and are interested in obtaining marketable skills. All apprentices have some barrier to employment but have also demonstrated progress in turning their lives around. Our emphasis is not just on those with barriers, but those who truly have a desire to completely change their lives. After 18 months most earn well over minimum wage and are worth every penny of it. They are very effectively trained and apprenticed by our mentors in office computer technologies and customer service, or as website developers writing in Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML). After 18 months most have mastered important computer skills such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage and HTML website design. |
